Why we do what we do
What MODEL-med does
Model-med® International specialises in Birth Simulators and Gynaecology Models for medical education.
Medical professionals around the world use MODEL-med® birth simulators to practice a range of Obstetrics and Gynaecology situations such as breech birth, shoulder dystocia, cephalic birth, instrumental delivery, post-partum haemorrhage, manual removal of placenta, fetal and cervical assessment, speculum and bi-manual examination, to name just a few.
The models are made of superior materials that offer a far more realistic simulation of human tissue than in other medical models.
With a strong foundation working with Midwives and Obstetricians and building on 15 years of experience in birth simulation, MODEL-med has continued to refine its world renowned Sophie’s Mum Birth Simulator.

“When One Patient Becomes Two”
For their first in-person class since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, second-year medical students saw human anatomy from a whole new perspective using MODEL-med simulators.
They used Sophie and her Mum in their simulation of a female patient in active labour. During this session, the students created a simulated situation and created a character persona, helping the experience feel even more realistic.

MODEL-med being used to educate with Breech Without Borders
At MODEL-med we work closely with Breech Without Borders, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to breech training, education, and advocacy.
They have made this educational video that features each of the 4 main types of breech presentations on the simulator (frank, complete, incomplete, footling or “dropped foot”) using Sophie and her Mum.
This informative video also expands on what breech is, how common it is, what the different types of presentations are, and how it works using our MODEL-med simulator, Sophie and her Mum.
